Successful Commisioning (September 6th) of GAS-In-Unit‘ delivered by company Uhde - equipped with two GTS-Thielmann Energietechnik Waterbath-Heatern completed.
The NordStream Pipeline will be the major gas supplying unit for Europe. The first of the Nord Stream’s twin 1,224 km gas pipeline through the Baltic-Sea has been successfully filled. The pipeline starts in Vyborg (Russia) and ends in Lubmin near Greifswald (Germany). The ‚Gas-In‘ of the second twin has been determined for late 2012. On September 9th the Russian Governor Mr. Putin formally started-up the ‚Gas-In-Process‘. The former German chancellor and chairman of the Nord Stream AG, Mr. Gerhard Schröder has inspected our waterbath-heaters at the first commissioning.
GTS-Thielmann Energietechnik GmbH delivered two heaters – 4MW capacity - to company Uhde GmbH (Bad Soden) after 5 months. Short delivery time and high requirements, e.g. 220 bar design, have been successfully fulfilled by GTS. Each heater has a net weight of approx. 35 tons.
Each heater had been installed on a skid. The complete skids were scope of supply by Uhde GmbH. The skid units are also known as ‚Gas-In-Unit‘. The application of the heater-units is to heat up the natural at the ‘Gas-In-Process’ of the pipeline. The first Gas-In process is creating a temperature drop of the gas caused by the pressure reduction (Joule-Thomson-Effect). The heat-up-process of the gas is necessary to reach the pipeline operating pressure.
