General information
Cartridge filters are used to clean gas from dry contaminants. The design is a welded steel construction.
Function
The gas flows through the inlet nozzle into the filter housing. Coarse particles are filtered out by gravity through flow detour and reduction of the gas velocity and collected in the lower filter section. Fine dust particles are filtered by downstream filter elements. The cleaned gas flows out through the outlet nozzle. The filter element contamination should be monitored with a differential pressure measurement.

Medium

Our cartridge filters are specially designed for the filtration of dry, gaseous media and are characterized by their high filtration performance, long service life and reliable operation. They are used wherever gaseous material flows need to be effectively cleaned of particles, dust, oil mist or other solid contaminants - even under demanding ambient conditions.

Typical media for which our cartridge filters are designed include:
Natural gas, biogas, hydrogen, process gases, LNG gas, nitrogen, compressed air, ambient air and numerous other technical gases.

By selecting suitable filter materials and geometries, our systems can be individually adapted to the medium, temperature, pressure level and chemical requirements. The filter cartridges are available in various degrees of separation - from coarse separation to highly efficient fine filtration in the submicron range.

Our cartridge filter systems offer a high degree of modularity and can be flexibly integrated into existing systems. Thanks to their maintenance-friendly construction and robust design, they represent an efficient and economical solution for the filtration of gaseous media.

Areas of application

Our cartridge filters are specially developed for the filtration of gaseous media and are used in numerous industrial applications where clean gas flows are crucial for process reliability, product quality and the protection of sensitive components. They enable the reliable separation of particles, solids, aerosols and other undesirable components from dry gas flows - even under high volume flows and demanding operating conditions.

Areas of application:

  • Chemical industry & petrochemicals: Filtration of process and inert gases to prevent system contamination and ensure stable reaction conditions.
  • Natural gas production and gas treatment: Filtration of dust and particles from natural gas and biogas to increase operational safety and prevent system failures.
  • Food industry: Pure compressed air and technical gases to comply with hygienic standards in production and packaging.
  • Shipbuilding & maritime applications: Filtration of supply air and technical gases in confined, safety-relevant systems under harsh environmental conditions.
  • Energy and environmental technology: Treatment of fuel and process gases to optimize efficiency and minimize emissions.
  • Industrial production & special plant construction: Protection of pneumatic systems, control and measuring equipment from contamination in air and gas lines.

Our filter systems are precisely tailored to the respective application - in terms of medium, temperature, pressure and required separation performance. In addition to standard solutions, application-specific special designs are also available.

Industries

Our cartridge filters are specialized in the filtration of dry, gaseous media and meet the highest requirements for purity, operational safety and system availability. They are used wherever air, technical gases or process gases need to be reliably cleaned of particles, dust, oil mist or other solid contaminants.

The robust design, adaptable filter media and modular system architecture make our filter solutions ideal for continuous industrial use - even under challenging ambient conditions and with high volume flows.

Typical industries in which our cartridge filters are used:

  • Chemical, petrochemical & polymer plants: filtration of reaction, purge or inert gases to ensure stable process conditions and protect downstream components.
  • Natural gas production: Removal of solid contaminants from natural gas and biogas streams to ensure trouble-free plant operation.
  • Food industry: Treatment of compressed air and technical gases for product-related applications in compliance with strict hygiene standards.
  • Shipbuilding & maritime applications: Filtration of supply and process gases in compact plant environments with increased requirements for safety and corrosion resistance.
  • Industrial applications: Use in pneumatic systems, gas circuits, laser systems, automation solutions and special gas-related processes.
  • Special applications: Individually designed filter systems for special technical requirements and industry-specific specifications.
  • Process industry: Filtration of auxiliary and process gases to ensure constant production conditions and compliance with regulatory requirements.

General conditions

Cartridge filters are customized for a wide range of industrial applications and meet specific technical requirements and international regulations. Thanks to their individual design, they can be flexibly adapted to different operating conditions and ensure reliable filtration in demanding environments.

International regulations and certifications:

Cartridge filters can be designed and manufactured in accordance with various global and regional standards, including:

  • ASME (with or without U-Stamp) for the international market
  • EN 13445 for the European region
  • SVTI for Switzerland
  • AS1210 for Australia
  • PD5500 for specific British requirements

This standard-compliant design ensures that the filter systems meet the relevant legal regulations and safety standards.

Customer-specific approvals and tests:

In addition to meeting international standards, cartridge filters can also pass specific acceptance tests by reputable companies and operators. These include, among others:

  • BASF, OGE, Gascade, Sasol, INGL, ERI, Dolphin, Saudi Aramco, Gasco, MAN, Jenbacher, MAPNA, Siemens, DONG and many more.

These tests confirm the quality and performance of the filter systems for demanding applications.

Use under extreme conditions:

Cartridge filters are designed for challenging applications and can operate reliably under extreme conditions:

  • Sour gas applications (NACE compliant) for use in corrosive gas environments
  • Low temperature resistance down to -50 °C for cryogenic processes
  • Design pressure up to 300 bar for high-pressure applications
  • Design temperature up to 250 °C for thermally demanding processes

Individual adaptations:

In addition to the technical specifications, cartridge filters can also be manufactured with customized nozzle arrangements. This enables seamless integration into existing systems and process structures.

Thanks to these comprehensive customization options, cartridge filters are ideal for a wide range of industrial and highly specialized applications and ensure efficient filtration under demanding conditions.

Materials

Cartridge filters are manufactured from a variety of high-quality materials to meet the specific requirements of different applications. The choice of material depends on factors such as temperature resistance, chemical resistance and mechanical strength.

Carbon steel:
Carbon steel is often used for cartridge filters when high strength and stability are required. It is particularly suitable for industrial applications with moderate corrosion requirements and is often used in closed systems with a controlled environment.

Stainless steel:
Stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance and is ideal for demanding applications in the chemical, petrochemical, food and process industries. Stainless steel cartridge filters are resistant to aggressive media such as acids, alkalis and high-temperature processes, ensuring a long service life and high operational reliability.

Combination of carbon steel and stainless steel:
For special applications where a combination of strength and corrosion resistance is required, cartridge filters are made from a mixture of both materials. Typically, pressure-bearing housing components are made of carbon steel, while the surfaces in contact with the media are made of stainless steel. This design optimizes both the economic efficiency and the chemical resistance of the filter system.

Thanks to the wide variety of materials, cartridge filters can be specifically adapted to their respective application. Whether in aggressive environments, at high pressures or extreme temperatures - the choice of materials guarantees a reliable and durable filtration solution for a wide range of industrial sectors.
