Cell gas filter

Medium

Cellular gas filters play a crucial role in safe and efficient gas treatment. They are designed to reliably remove solid and liquid contaminants from different gas flows. This not only ensures the purity of the medium, but also protects downstream components, such as compressors, valves and measuring instruments, from deposits and damage.

The filter media used are specially adapted to the respective requirements and enable precise separation of particles and aerosols. Cellular gas filters are approved for a wide range of gases, including natural gas, town gas, coke oven gas, biogas, hydrogen, nitrogen and air. Other gases can be tested on request to meet individual process requirements.

Thanks to their compact design and high filtration efficiency, cellular gas filters are suitable for numerous industrial applications, from power generation and the chemical industry to the hydrogen economy. They contribute to operational safety and optimize the performance of gas systems.

Areas of application

Cellular gas filters are used in a wide range of applications in the filtration and preheating of natural gas and other technical gases, particularly in the high-pressure range. These filter solutions are used in gas systems to ensure a stable and clean gas supply. Typical areas of application are fuel gas supply systems, GDRM cabinet systems (gas pressure regulating and metering systems) and industrial gas regulating and metering lines, where they ensure reliable purification of the gas flow. Cellular gas filters are also indispensable in combined heat and power plants (CHP) and power-to-gas (PtG) systems, as they guarantee gas purity and thus increase the efficiency and service life of the system components.

A particularly important area of application is HTB gas filtration in buildings with high occupancy, such as schools and hospitals, where cellular gas filters provide safe gas treatment for heating systems. They are also used in maritime gas engine technology to meet the strict DNV standards and ensure clean gas use on ships.

With their robust design and high filtration performance, cellular gas filters from THIELMANN ENERGIETECHNIK GmbH offer an optimum solution for a wide range of demanding industrial sectors.

Industries

Cellular gas filters are used in numerous industries where reliable gas filtration is essential for process safety and system availability. Their robust design and high filtration efficiency make them an indispensable component in various industrial applications.

In the chemical, petrochemical and polymer industries, cellular gas filters ensure reliable gas purification to reduce impurities and protect sensitive production processes. They also play an important role in natural gas extraction, where they remove unwanted particles and liquids from the gas flow to ensure the efficiency and safety of the systems.

Cellular gas filters are also used in the food industry , particularly in processes where gases are required for packaging, fermentation or cooling. The strict purity requirements of this industry demand high-quality filter solutions that ensure reliable filtration.

In shipbuilding and maritime applications, cellular gas filters are essential to ensure the quality of fuel and process gases and to enable the systems to function smoothly. They are also suitable for special applications and a wide range of industrial processes where precise gas filtration is required.

Cellular gas filters are therefore a central component of the process industry, where they help to optimize operating processes and ensure high system reliability. Their versatility makes them an efficient solution for numerous industries with demanding requirements.

General conditions

Cellular gas filters are developed and tested under strict regulatory requirements to meet the highest safety and quality standards. They are designed for use in fuel gas supply systems, GDRM cabinet systems, gas control lines, metering lines, combined heat and power (CHP) plants, power-to-gas (PtG) plants and biogas plants. These systems require reliable gas filtration to minimize contamination and ensure the smooth operation of the connected components.

Special cell gas filters with DNV certification are available for the maritime sector, which meet the requirements of gas engine technology on ships. In addition, HTB gas filters are used for heating systems, especially in buildings with high occupancy such as schools and hospitals. These filters ensure reliable gas purification and contribute to operational safety.

All cellular gas filters meet the requirements of DVGW certification in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive EC 2014/68/EU and the EU Gas Appliances Regulation EU 2016/426 (GAR). The tests are carried out in accordance with DVGW worksheet G498 and are based on the AD-2000 regulations in order to guarantee the highest safety standards.

In addition, the filters are subject to a comprehensive construction, pressure and leak test, which is certified by a factory acceptance certificate in accordance with DIN EN 10204/3.1. HTB-certified filters have been tested for leaks in accordance with DIN 3537-1 and can withstand temperatures of up to +650 °C for 30 minutes.

For easy integration into existing systems, all cellular gas filters are designed for mating flanges in accordance with EN 1092-1 or ANSI/ASME Class 150/300 RF. They therefore offer a flexible and standard-compliant solution for a wide range of industrial applications.

Materials

The choice of material plays a decisive role in the durability and reliability of cellular gas filters. In order to meet the high requirements of industrial applications, cast components are available in various materials.

Cellular gas filters are manufactured from either silumin cast iron (aluminum alloy) or ductile cast iron (GJS). Silumin cast iron (Al) is characterized by its corrosion resistance, high strength and low density, which is particularly advantageous in weight-sensitive applications. Spheroidal graphite cast iron (GJS), on the other hand, offers exceptional mechanical strength and is particularly resistant to high pressures and thermal stresses.

These material variants allow the cellular gas filters to be specifically adapted to different operating conditions and ensure a high level of operational reliability in demanding applications.
