Reliable Filtration of Industrial Gases Using Cell Gas Filters

Cell gas filters play a crucial role in safe and efficient gas processing. These gas filters are designed to reliably remove solid and liquid contaminants from various gas streams. This not only ensures the purity of the medium but also protects downstream components—such as compressors, valves, and measuring instruments— from deposits and damage. This form of gas filtration ensures particularly clean process conditions.

The filter media used are specifically tailored to the respective requirements and enable precise particle separation as well as the removal of aerosols. Gas filters with a cellular structure ensure the efficient separation of even the smallest particles. Cell gas filters are approved for a wide range of gases, including natural gas, town gas, and coke oven gas, as well as biogas, hydrogen, nitrogen, and air. Other gases can be tested upon request to meet the specific process requirements of the separators. This is where the appropriate filter element for cellular gas filters is used in conjunction with aerosol separators to ensure the highest level of purity.

Thanks to their compact design and high filtration efficiency, cell gas filters and cell gas filter systems are suitable as industrial gas filters for numerous applications, ranging from power generation to cell gas filters for the chemical industry and the hydrogen economy. They contribute to operational safety and optimize the performance of gas systems. In specialized applications, metal cell gas filters for gas treatment or ceramic cell gas filters for process gases are also used. As a manufacturer of cell gas filters, we provide reusable cell gas filters, as well as cell gas filters for turbines and cell gas filters for compressed air systems.

Applications of Cell Gas Filters in GDRM Systems, CHP Plants, and Power-to-Gas Facilities

Cell gas filters have a wide range of applications in the filtration and preheating of natural gas and other industrial gases, particularly as high-pressure gas filters. These filter solutions are used in gas systems to ensure a stable and clean gas supply. Typical applications include fuel gas supply systems, where they function as fuel gas filters ; gas separators; GDRM cabinet systems, which combine the gas pressure regulation system and the gas metering system , as well as industrial gas regulation and metering lines, where they ensure the reliable purification of the gas stream. Cell gas filters are also indispensable in combined heat and power (CHP) plants and power-to-gas (PtG) plants, as they guarantee gas purity and thus increase the efficiency and service life of the plant components. Gas purification filters, process gas filters, and liquid separators for gas are also used to reliably remove even the smallest impurities.

A particularly important area of application isHTB gas filtration in buildings with high occupancy rates, such as schools and hospitals, where cellular gas filters for petrochemical plants provide safe gas treatment for heating systems. They are also used in marine gas engine technology to comply with strict DNV standards and ensure clean gas usage on ships. In specialized systems, hydrogen system cabinets are also integrated, which further optimize gas quality using gas filter cartridges and differential pressure monitoring .

With their robust construction and high filtration performance, cell gas filters from THIELMANN ENERGIETECHNIK GmbH offer an optimal solution for a wide range of demanding industrial applications.

Cell Gas Filters for Industrial Gas Filtration

Cell gas filters are used in numerous industries where reliable gas filtration is essential for process safety and plant availability. Their robust design and high filtration efficiency make them an indispensable component as industrial cell gas filters or industrial gas filters in various industrial applications.

In the chemical, petrochemical, and polymer industries, cell gas filters for petrochemical plants—also known as process gas filters—ensure reliable gas purification to reduce contaminants and protect sensitive production processes. They also play an important role in natural gas production as gas filters for natural gas, where they remove unwanted particles and liquids from the gas stream to ensure the efficiency and safety of the facilities.

Cell gas filters are also used as gas filters in the food industry , particularly in processes where gases are required for packaging, fermentation, or cooling. The strict purity requirements of this industry demand high-quality filter solutions that ensure reliable filtration, including dust filtration .

In shipbuilding and maritime applications, cellular gas filters are essential as fuel gas filters to ensure the quality of fuel and process gases and to enable trouble-free operation of the systems. In addition, they are suitable, for example, as hydrogen gas filters for special applications and a wide variety of industrial processes where precise gas filtration is required.

Cell gas filters, available as DVGW cell gas filters, are thus a central component of the process industry, where they help optimize operational processes and ensure high system reliability. Their versatility makes them an efficient solution from the range of cell gas filter manufacturers for numerous industries with demanding requirements.

Technical Requirements for Cell Gas Filters

Cell gas filters are developed and tested in accordance with strict regulatory requirements to meet the highest safety and quality standards. They are designed for use as fuel gas filters in fuel gas supply systems, GDRM cabinet systems—including gas pressure regulation systems and gas metering systems—gas regulation sections such as gas pressure regulation sections, metering sections, combined heat and power (CHP) plants, power-to-gas (PtG) plants, and biogas plants. These systems require reliable gas filtration to minimize impurities and ensure the smooth operation of the connected components.

For the maritime sector, special cell gas filters with DNV certification are available that, when used as gas filters for natural gas, meet the requirements of gas engine technology on ships. In addition, HTB gas filters are used in heating systems, particularly in buildings with high occupancy rates such as schools and hospitals. With differential pressure monitoring , these filters ensure reliable gas purification and contribute to operational safety.

All cell gas filters—each a certified DVGW cell gas filter—meet the requirements of DVGW certification in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive EC 2014/68/EU and the EU Gas Appliances Regulation EU 2016/426 (GAR) and are therefore CE-compliant. The gas filters are tested in accordance with DVGW Worksheet G498 and are based on the AD-2000 regulations to guarantee the highest safety standards.

In addition, the filters undergo comprehensive construction, pressure, and leak tests; for fittings, these tests are conducted in accordance with DIN EN ISO 15848 and are certified by a factory acceptance certificate in accordance with DIN EN 10204/3.1. HTB-certified filters have been tested for leak tightness in accordance with DIN 3537-1 and can withstand temperatures of up to +650 °C for 30 minutes.

For easy integration into existing systems, all cell gas filters—including the high-pressure gas filter—are designed for mating flanges in accordance with EN 1092-1 or ANSI/ASME Class 150/300 RF. As industrial gas filters, they thus offer a flexible and standards-compliant solution for a wide variety of industrial applications.

Materials for Cell Gas Filters

The choice of materials plays a crucial role in the durability and reliability of cell gas filters. To meet the high demands of industrial applications, cast components are available in a variety of materials.

As an experienced manufacturer of cell gas filters, we ensure that the choice of material optimally supports the operational safety and performance of the filters.

Cell gas filters are manufactured either from silumin castings (aluminum alloy) or ductile iron (GJS). Silumin cast aluminum (Al) is characterized by its corrosion resistance, high strength, and low density, which is particularly advantageous in weight-sensitive applications. Ductile iron (GJS), on the other hand, offers exceptional mechanical strength and is particularly resistant to high pressures and thermal stresses.

These material options allow for the tailored adaptation of cell gas filters to different operating conditions and ensure a high level of operational reliability in demanding applications.
