The 1,500 MW Az Zour North gas-fired combined-cycle power plant is located in Az Zour, approx. 100 km south of Kuwait City. The power plant was built as part of the Az-Zour North Independent Water and Power Project (IWPP). The construction of the power plant and a desalination plant forms the first phase of the IWPP. The new integrated power plant and desalination plant was completed and commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2016.
