Double tube heat exchangers have established themselves as a standard in the chemical, energy, heavy and light industry, oil and gas, marine, transportation and refrigeration sectors, as well as in the food and beverage industry, where they are highly valued. As a manufacturer of safety heat exchangers, we offer innovative solutions for heat exchange between a medium that is hostile to the environment and a medium that is released back into the environment, or between two media that react with each other.

This results in the typical areas of application for double-tube heat exchangers, such as in the oil cooling of turbines, gearboxes and compressors in industrial water heating, the wood industry and in the chemical and petrochemical industries, where mixing must be avoided at all costs for process reasons. Thanks to their special design, double-tube heat exchangers offer safe heat exchange for media that are hazardous to the environment and health. Our double-tube heat exchangers are used in a wide range of industries, including chemicals, petrochemicals, polymer plants, natural gas extraction, the food industry, shipbuilding and other maritime and industrial applications. Technical design for extreme operating conditions


Our double-tube heat exchangers are designed for demanding operating conditions:

  • Low temperature applications down to -50 °C - ideal for cryogenic processes or gases with a low boiling point
  • Design pressures up to 300 bar - suitable for high-pressure applications, e.g. in gas treatment or energy technology
  • Design temperatures up to 250 °C - reliable even at high thermal loads
  • Suitable for sour gas in accordance with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, e.g. for media contaminated with hydrogen sulphide in the oil and gas industry

Materials

THIELMANN ENERGIETECHNIK GmbH develops and manufactures high-precision double-tube heat exchangers that are used in a wide range of industrial applications worldwide. A decisive factor for the durability, operational reliability and efficiency of our heat exchangers is the targeted selection of suitable materials - tailored to the medium, temperature, pressure and industry-specific requirements.

Variety of materials for individual requirements

Our double-tube heat exchangers are available in a wide range of materials and can be manufactured either entirely from one material or in a combination of different materials. This flexibility allows us to realize solutions that are precisely tailored to the respective operating conditions.

The following materials are used particularly frequently:

  • Carbon steel: Ideal for standard applications with low to medium corrosion requirements. Carbon steel is characterized by high mechanical strength and cost-effectiveness - especially in water, oil or air applications under normal conditions.
  • Stainless steel: (e.g. 1.4571 / 316Ti, 1.4404 / 316L) Stainless steel alloys offer excellent corrosion protection and are the first choice for aggressive media, high hygiene requirements or thermally demanding processes. They are used in the chemical industry, food processing and in maritime and pharmaceutical applications, among others.
  • Material combinations of carbon steel and stainless steel: In many applications, selective use of materials makes sense - for example, if there are different requirements on the primary and secondary sides. For example, the inner pipe (carrying the medium) can be made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, while the outer protective pipe is made of robust carbon steel. This enables an optimum balance between cost, functionality and durability.

Special materials on request

In addition to standard and combination materials, THIELMANN ENERGIETECHNIK GmbH also offers solutions with special materials, for example for high-temperature applications, acid gases (in accordance with NACE) or for media-related material stresses. These include, among others:

  • Nickel-based alloys (e.g. Hastelloy, Inconel)
  • Duplex and super duplex steels
  • Titanium for particularly corrosive or saline media

Material consulting and material testing

Our experts provide you with comprehensive advice on the selection of suitable materials - taking into account technical parameters, standard requirements and economic aspects. On request, we offer a wide range of material-specific tests, including PMI (Positive Material Identification), 3.1/3.2 certificates, material analyses and microstructural investigations.
